Rick Collins Addresses the Topic of “Niche Law”

Bar Association Presentations Address How Attorneys Can Incorporate Their Passion into their Practices

imageRick Collins has been traveling to a number of Bar Associations throughout New York to address the topic of “Finding Your Passion in the Law” and how attorneys can incorporate their interests/passions in carving out a unique niche that few lawyers – or perhaps no other lawyers – inhabit. Rick recently spoke both in Albany, New York and on Long Island to address groups of young attorneys – sharing his story of building, and growing, his steroid law practice and creating the firm’s dietary supplements/sports nutrition practice area … and offering a general “blueprint” of how lawyers can incorporate their interests through the growing area of niche law.

Rick’s presentation focuses on how attorneys can incorporate their passions and special interests in their legal careers – whether it is their passion for certain sports, love of travel, their own personal hobbies or their desire to help a specific target population (e.g., people with certain health issues, older individuals with age discrimination, etc.) By sharing his personal story about combining his passion for and contacts in the fitness/health and bodybuilding industries, Rick highlights the benefits of becoming a niche lawyer in today’s legal community – and how combining your passion with your interest in the law can prove to be a rewarding strategy for many young lawyers today.

By sharing his story, Rick (who has been featured in Long Island’s Newsday as part of a major story on niche law) offers young attorneys insight about how his passion for fitness and many connections within the bodybuilding and fitness worlds led to the development of his niche law practice in anabolic steroids and dietary supplements – noting that today 100 percent of his practice focuses on issues related to his passion surrounding health and fitness. He also offers specific advice about how attorneys can identify their own niche, “pitch their niche” – and build their niche law practices through the use of social media, traditional/online marketing, networking and other practice-building activities.
